May 2024 Conference Details

WHEN: Thursday, May 30, 2024  |   8:30 AM – 3:15 PM   | 3:15 – 4:30 PM Social  

WHERE: Bishop Miege High School, 5041 Reinhardt Dr, Roeland Park, KS 66205

WHO: All individuals involved and interested in advancing Catholic schools, both within and outside of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, is welcome to attend.

WHAT: The Catholic School Advancement conference is a 1-day event that consists of a keynote speaker, 5 breakout sessions, networking and collaboration opportunities, all intended to support schools’ advancement efforts. Breakout sessions are 40 minutes in length and the presenter will utilize the workshop model.

COST: ArchKCK school and parish staff and volunteers – $60 per person; Non-Arch KCK / Other – $70 per person. Payments is due March 1st.

  • 7:30 AM – Optional Mass
  • 8:00 – 8:30 AM – Check-In, Light Breakfast
  • 8:30 AM – Welcome / Introductions 
  • 8:40 AM – Keynote Speakers
  • 9:40 AM – Breakout Session #1 
  • 10:40 AM – Breakout Session #2
  • 11:40 AM – Breakout Session #3
  • 12:25 PM – Lunch + Networking
  • 1:30 PM – Breakout Session #4
  • 2:30 PM – Breakout Session #5
  • 3:25 PM – Wrap Up / Conclusion
  • 3:35- 4:30 PM – Vendor Talks, Team Meetings, Networking 
Lunch + Networking will include the option to gather with groups of individuals with specific roles or communities. This will include preschool leaders, marketing personnel, admissions personnel, one-man-show principals, high school principals, fundraising volunteers, and so forth. Attendees can choose where to go and may bounce around to different rooms if desired.

Advancement is the umbrella term for all things having to do with the promotion, continuation, and enhancement of an organization. For Catholic schools, advancement plays and essential role in ensuring the vitality and sustainability of a Catholic school.

No, the conference is open to school and parish personnel from any diocese. Anyone involved in the advancement of Catholic schools, whether an employee or volunteer, at a school or parish, is welcome to attend!

Anyone involved in the advancement of schools may attend. This may include, but is not limited to:

  1. principals and vice principals
  2. pastors
  3. admissions and enrollment staff
  4. development directors
  5. marketing personnel
  6. accountants
  7. parish staff
  8. board members
  9. committee members
  10. teachers pursuing / interested in pursuing a career as a principal

It is highly recommended to send a team of AT LEAST two (2) people to the conference to support implementation after the conference.

We anticipate 25-30 different breakout session topics. Details are presently being finalized.

In March, registered attendees will receive an email with a comprehensive list of topics, session descriptions, and presenter information. At that time, registrants will be asked to sign-up for sessions. This will help the presenter craft their presentation to meet the needs of attendees.

Topics will cover all aspects of advancement, to include:

  3. Fundraising
  4. Donor Engagement
  5. Alumni Engagement
  6. Budgets and Financials
  7. Strategic Planning 
  8. Board and Business Team Development 

To help offset some of the costs for guest speaker compensation and fees, meals, and materials, the fees are as follows:

  • $60 per ArchKCK-affiliated school or parish personnel
  • $70 per non-ArchKCK individuals 

A $10 per person discount is offered to all individuals that register BEFORE December 8, 2023. The discount will be reflected in the invoice.

Invoices will be sent to each responsible party (as listed on the registration form) beginning February 1st, 2024.

Yes, registration is required. After reaching 150 registrants, a waitlist will begin.

After 150 registrants, a waitlist will begin. If you are placed on the waitlist, you will be notified immediately via email.

Individuals will be placed on a waitlist in order of the date of submission of the registration.

In the event that a registrant no longer is able to attend, waitlisted individuals will be contacted.

Bishop Miege High School, one of the high schools within the Archdiocese, has been kind enough to host the conference at their school. 

The school is located at  5041 Reinhardt Dr, Roeland Park, KS 66205.

Registrants will receive information closer to the event regarding parking and entering the building. 

A continental breakfast, full lunch, and light snacks and drinks will be available throughout the conference.

Closer to the event, registrants will receive an email asking for any dietary restrictions that we should be made aware of. 

While not required, attendees are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle to help us reduce waste.

At the request of presenters, we are asking registrants to sign-up for sessions ahead of time. This will give the presenter information ahead of time on the background of their attendees, their roles in schools, and school type.

For this reason, registrants will be asked in the Spring to sign-up for sessions prior to the event. An email will be sent out at that time with further directions.

Speakers and attendees are asked to dress business casual. We encourage layers as temperatures can vary in buildings during the summer months!
